Today, around 10:30 central,
TLU faculty, students, and staff came together in Jackson Auditorium in order to celebrate the inauguration of the United States' 44t
h president, Barack Obama.
I was part of the body of our nation today. When I clapped, I realized that I was not the only one clapping. People across the country were clapping too.
We, as Americans each gain the same thing today. A man with great power. Everyone might see this power
differently, but just think about the movie stars, the homeless, the teacher no one likes, they are all gaining the same thing as I am, as you are. I kept drafting texts just so I could remember how I felt when it hit 12 noon in D.C. and a new president came into power.
It's an emotional day for many, for myself even. Melanin can barely matter to our nation now. It SHOULD NEVER matter. It SHOULD NO LONGER stand out.
I thank God for this special day and for the special man that has stepped front and center to help our nation become a better place to live and be. Please, Mr. President, do your best to carry through. I have faith in you.
*Picture is taken down my road where our neighbor actually takes advantage of the flag pole.
